Jessica, Gavin and Grant (Left to right
)
This is the first snowboard trip for Gavin (had never snowboarded
yet) and it's the 4th day today but he says he is progressing
so far! The inn master adviced them to try Sun-Alpine ski
slopes (Constituted by Sanosaka, Aokiko and Kashimayari )
as they have already tried Hakuba Goryu & 47. Happo-one
at the previous days and took them there.

We found enough new snow just in front of the house when
we went out.
The view across the road from the pension! It had snowed
about 20cms the previous day so we were definitely excited
to get out snowboarding on a beautiful clear sunny day!

Grant at the ticket window. It's Wednesday today, ski pass
discount avaiable for Men ( Men's day : 3,900 yen -->
2,100 yen ). Friday for Women (Women's day :same discount
available )
The Sun Alpine slopes are by far our most favourite out
of all Hakuba! It is not as busy as the others and has a
huge number of slopes with many green and intermediate runs
and the odd black, of which we didnt attempt :P
Having the inn keeper along with us was a great help as
there are three mountain faces which makes up Sun Alpine
each with about eight lifts.
As it was not as busy as others we had been to we were
able to find heaps of fresh powder and I really enjoyed
the number of runs which were either beginner or intermediate!
It was fantastic to have the innkeeper with us as he was
able to show us all the different runs!

Sanosaka - Nagamiyama garande.
Check out how perfectly groomed the runs are, and fresh
as because we got there early!! It was absolutely fantastic!
Everyone getting ready.
Lake view from Sanosaka.
There are fantastic views of the lake, breathtaking!
Lake view from Aokiko. No one is around!!! All for us!
So great getting there early for the first tracks!
Grant and Jessica cheers.

Gavin took pictures.
You must take a camera up to this moutain as the views
are fantastic!
Cheers!! We are now at the opposite side of the equator
from Oz!
YAY snow, something we do not get much of in perth!
Moving from Sanosaka to Aokiko on a path, it is kind of
hard for snowboarders because it's almost like crosscountry
course!
Annoying thing about snowboarding is on flats you have
to walk! Our legs hurt!
A little bit more to Aokiko........
Jessica punches the inn master!!!
Movie files - enjoying snowboarding in the pow.
Grant and Gavin
9.5MB .....thorpie says its fully sic!
Jessica 8.3MB
.....if you watch grant in the background he tries to jump
just as he leaves the view...hahahahaha he ended up stacking
it and got stuck in the pow! hahahaha
As the movie shows we found heaps of powder that day which
was great! The innmaster is a great guy and is very helpful
with any questions we have, he also took us to this mountain
and picked us up! He was far more advanced than us on the
slopes but stayed with us most of the day, very kind!

Kashimayari

Yay yay!!
On a lift.
Going to jump all the way there! (No way!)
Gavin looking very pro! He has never snowboarded before
and by day 4 was doing fantastic!
Pow pow pow....
The lift to this slope was for skiers only though!! arghhhhh!
Back from Kashimayari to Aokiko. All the courses
were not available maybe because of some risks for avalanches.
Lake Aoki (Aokiko) is visible at the bottom - looks half frozen.
Beautiful scenery.

Sanosaka. Almost like "all for you". Not busy
at all.
It was definitely the least busy of all the slopes, and
the other fab thing was that there were no ski or snowboarding
lessons, as those groups sometimes get in the way!
